Personal Update
Before we get into this week’s personal update I wanted to thank you for all the feedback I received after my newsletter last week.
This week has been a disjointed week with the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday, I hope that some of you were able to pick a winner. I fortunately didn’t not make it to the bookies and saved my investment, as my pick ran dead last
I was lucky enough to spend some time looking after some friends’ kids on Monday night while they were out and I am still amazed with what you are able to learn from kids of any age.
We were playing a game of Wii together (the 2 kids, myself and my brother Matt) and we decided to team up against each other in a game of ten pin bowling. In picking the teams I said I would play with one of the kids and Matt would play with the other to ensure that the teams were fair. I was thinking to myself, Matt and I will easily beat these guys so I want to even the teams up to ensure its a fair game.
The kids though didn’t want to do that, they wanted to play together as a team against the “Stenning Brothers“. I looked cautiously at Matt and winked, as I was confident that we were going to win.
I was making a judgement on these kids’ ability to complete a task (win the game) based purely on their age. In fact I had no idea how much they had practised, how often they played or their skill level; just there age. What I was doing was the exact thing that I had to deal with when I was starting out my first business.
So the game started and the kids proceeded to flog Matt and myself in not only bowling, but also tennis and boxing.
Now why did I feel like sharing that story?
Today I want you to think about what opportunities you are missing and what people you are not interacting with based on your own personal prejudices. As my mum always used to say:
“Don’t Judge A Book By It’s Cover”
Until next week,

The Art Of Getting ReTweeted
A guy by the name of Dan Zarrella has recently completed some research around what sort of wording gets ReTweeted the most, so day I’m going to share with you how to become “ReTweetable”.
What is a ReTweet?
For those of you who are unsure what i’m talking about when I say “ReTweet” it is when someone on twitter likes what you have written or said and decide that want to share it with their twitter network by saying RT @<twitter username>: message. So for example if someone was to ReTweet this post it would look like “RT @SSMMarketing The Art of Getting ReTweeted http://bit.ly/XXX” so as you can see people that aren’t following me will be able to click on the link and read our blog post.
